In the summer of 2009, when we were staying at our summer house at a lake near the coast of Holland, I discovered a little quilt shop. I felt like a kid in a candy store, all this lovely fabric! I have always loved working with fabric. I was new to quilting and I loved all those beautiful quilts but as I am not patient enough to finish such a large project I started with some cushions. I made them by hand as I had no sewing machine in the summer house. Then I wanted to make a wall hanging so I pieced little squares together. This was going to be my first art quilt and I made several others. Then I found this site and posted them on the photo gallery and got some nice feedback. I have learned so many new techniques and materials from the magazine and the site and enjoy trying them all out. I post everything I make on the photo gallery. It is fun to see what other people think of them. I work fairly fast so there is quite a few of them by now. I usually start out with picking some fabric not knowing what I am going to make yet. Then I sew as I go. I especially like making fabric portraits. I still make traditional quilt blocks, by hand. I might sew them all together into a large quilt one day.
