Mixed media paper quilts are an exciting and dynamic new way to create a quilt. Carol Wiebe shows you, step by step, how to "piece" and "applique" your papers together for the top layer of your "Cracked Paper Quilt."

See the rest of this method in the article "Cracked Paper Quilts" by Carol Wiebe, Quilting Arts Magazine, issue 39.

THANK YOU, I had marked your article in QA to try when I read your article and this video made me more comfortable to work on a paper quilt, I loved your way of explaining ways to fix things that don't go the way I think they will, makes me know I haven't ruined my paper quilt if something tears. I can't wait for your next video, I was sorry when this one ended.

txquiltie and Iguajardo . . . I'm so happy the video was helpful. Now that I am back from Quilting by the Lake, I want to blog about it on Silverspring Studio and make more videos!  And by the way, txquiltie, even if you don't repair tears and holes, as long as they are not too big, they just add more texture!

Carol, that was just great, and just enough. I couldn't have absorbed much more at my age. I have the basics firmly affixed in my mind and can't wait until the next episode. This is better than the Serial Movies at the Saturday cinema! Jim D

So happy to see you "live" and in person.  I have an old photocopy of an old photo (yes, they're both OLD) that hasn't been transferring very well with other methods.  So glad to see that I can use a plain photocopy to make a quilt.  It is a black and white picture of my mom and dad before they were married in 1956.  Looking forward to creating something special.

Jim, that is too funny!

And Amerines, yes, you can use it directly. Isn't that liberating?

I just got done watching the first one again then right into the second.  This is really cool.  I've been looking for another avenue to explore with my quilting and this just might be it.  I can't wait to see how everything turns out.  I'm thinking Christmas gifts.  Everyone will be so impressed.  Keep those videos coming and by the way I love your first name.
