“True Colors” quilt by Jane LaFazio Quilts Inc. and the publishers of Cloth Paper Scissors® magazine are pleased to once again bring Make It University!™ with Cloth Paper Scissors® to Houston.Come join us right on the show floor where mixed-media, paper, and fiber art vendors are selling one-of-a-kind mixed-media and art quilt supplies, books, kits, novelty papers, felting supplies, eclectic and fun rubber stamps, and paints. There will be lots of hands-on, hour-long workshops, artist demonstrations, and challenges you can sign up for on the show floor—everything from collage and art quilting to mixed-media jewelry. Cloth Paper Scissors® will also be showcasing the “True Colors” mixed-media quilt exhibit as well as some of the results from the Quilting Arts Magazine® “Go Green” reader challenge. And stick around Saturday night where you may have the chance to win some fabulous mixed media and fiber goodies at Surviving the Runway! New! Preview Night Raffle at Make It University!™Come join us preview night where we'll be raffling off lots of mixed media and art quilt supplies. Raffle tickets are free and raffle box closes at 9:00 when the raffle commences in the Workshop area. Don't miss out! Artist Trading Card ExtravaganzaCreate artist trading cards (ATCs) and trade them at the ATC wall in Make It University!™. There is no limit to the number of ATCs you can swap, and trading is open during show hours. We will be hosting the ultimate ATC trade in the Make It University!™ section and strongly encourage you to bring ATCs with any kind of holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas) or entertainment theme (movies, music, TV shows, favorite quotes or lyrics). For this particular ATC trade, there is no limit to the number of ATCs you can bring/ trade. You are invited to make these ATCs from paper, fabric, felt, metal, or of another medium. If you have 50 ATCs, you can trade all of them, so I hope you get busy over the next couple of months and plan to come to the show! Small Craft Advisory!Open StudiosCome join us in the Open Studios section of Make It University!™ where artists will be on hand for demonstrations and to answer your questions on all things related to mixed media. Artists will be painting fabric, stamping cloth and paper, creating art journals, machine needle-felting, and stitching with mixed media right on the show floor. Make It University!™ with Cloth Paper Scissors® WorkshopsThese workshops will be taught by exhibitors and artists in the Make It University!™ with Cloth Paper Scissors® section, with a maximum of 25 people per session. The fee for each workshop is $10, and workshop participation will be determined by lottery. Each workshop will have its own lottery. The lottery will open for each workshop the day the workshop is given, and people may put their name in each workshop lottery from the time the show opens that day up until 15 minutes prior to the start of the workshop. Participants may put their name in each workshop lottery only once, but may put their name in as many different workshop lotteries as they choose. People must be physically present 15 minutes prior to the assigned workshop to hear if their name is called. If the person isn’t present, unfortunately their spot will be forfeited and another name will be called.
